Game 157 - Free Dwarfs - 2021/04/18

Greetings!

This is the battle report from the very first game I played in 2021. Yes, I know, a bit late and I apologize to Ed, my opponent, that it took me so long to get back to our battle. However, I hope it was worth waiting for as I think the game was very interesting and was not resolved until the very end!

Ed decided to use Free Dwarfs army this time. I still have the impression that this army is not quite popular and I was curious what would be Ed's approach to the composition. Here are the details:

Free Dwarfs - Army List

Earth Elementals Horde (EE1), Large Infantry, Blade of Slashing - 225

Game 156 - Basileans - 2021/04/11

Greetings!

In the last round of the Rage of Isolation 4 online tournament, played on Universal Battle 2 I played against Yan. I had a great pleasure to play against him a few times in the past, although not yet in person. All our games were online. Yan brought a difference force each time and this tournament was no different. While expected either Herd or the Empire of Dust, Yan decided to try out some Basileans instead. I got an impression he really just wanted to play with this enormous Paladin Knights Horde! And some Elohi! And a Phoenix! And some Living Legends!

Basileans - Army List

Paladin Knights Horde (PK), Cavalry, Brew of Strength - 395
Ogre Palace Guard Horde (OPG), Large Infantry, Staying Stone - 240

Game 148 - Order of the Brothermark - 2020/10/17

Greetings!

In the second game of Rage of Isolation 2 I played against Michael, the organizer of the event. Michael stepped in for this round as a Bye-buster as one of the players had to withdraw from the tournament.

What is more, Michael decided to use the player's army anyway, which is a challenge in itself, especially when it is a completely new army Michael has never played with before.

I have not had a chance to play against this particular faction under 3rd edition yet either, so it was already very exciting! I was really curious how Order of the Brothermark would look like after the split of the Brotherhood into two, separate army lists.

One would obviously expect some knights to be present but at the same time there were a few, quite tempting options that were not available in the previous version.

Here are the details of the army Michael was commanding this round:

Order of the the Brothermark - Army List

Ogre Palace Guard Horde (OPG), Large Infantry - 235
Ogre Palace Guard Horde (OPG), Large Infantry - 235

Game 143 - Trident Realm - 2020/05/10

Greetings!

In the second game at 2300 points per side I played against Jeff again! We were about to submit our army lists for a local online tournament to be played on Universal Battle 2 . More about the tournament in the next battle report :)

I noticed in the past that even if I may not be able to play many games prior to the event, it does pay off to play a game or two. I did not intend to make many changes to the army list but I wanted to see if the items choice and allocation is what I would like to play with during 4-battles tournament.

Jeff also wanted to have one more game to decide on the final list. But what is also important, we wanted to play with the use of an online chess clock to be used in the tournament. We used the one recommended by Michael, the tournament organiser:

We were allocated 10 minutes each for the deployment, followed by 90 minutes each for the game. It looks like a lot of time in comparison to normal tournament. However, some games on UB2 are done with the use of chat. And even if you are talking directly to your opponent, the online games always take longer for me. I was thus very intrigued and I hoped I would not time out!

Jeff decided to take Trident Realm to the tournament and here is the army he used for this battle (spoiler alert, he made some last minute changes to it before submitting the list to the event):

Trident Realm - Army List

Gigas Horde (G1), Monstrous Infntry - 205

Game 139 - Forces of Nature - 2020/02/16

Greetings!

In the final, 6th round of Clash of Kings Australia 2020 I faced the army of Forces of Nature commanded by Ken - regular Masters participant and a winner of last year Clash of Kings Australia!

I have played against Ken only twice so far and I lost on both occasions. I hoped I would be able to change the current standings to be a bit more equal. Luckily, one of my very few practice games was against this faction so I wanted to use my experience and apply the lessons learned to this game.

Of course, no two armies are the same and no two players would use even exactly the same army in similar fashion, so I had to come up with a good plan against Ken's Forces of Nature anyway. The army had quite a few units I played against before, be it in the army from the same faction or from another one. Earth Elementals are very good example of these and you could see them featured in the previous battle report.

In general, Ken's army had tough units, fast units and shooting units, which made it versatile and flexible army for sure. Here are the details:

Game 6 - Forces of Nature - Ken

Naiad Ensnarers Horde (NE), Infantry, Hammer of Measured Force, Frenzied Otter - 255

Game 122 - Goblins - 2019/10/10

Greetings!

In the third round of the Return of the King tournament I played against Matthew and his Goblins. I have never played against Matthew before so I was happy to have an opportunity to meet a new player!

I was also curious how would I do against Goblins. I spotted Matthew's army in the meantime and it did look quite intimidating, with quite a number of units and a few hordes too.

When I play against Goblins I have to assume they will outnumber my army and that they will have higher unit strength. So it is always a challenge to play against this faction as one can put a lot of effort in order to rout some units while there is still more to come.

Here are the details of the army Matthew brought for the event:
