Monster March 3 - Introduction

Hello!

Time flies! It is always the similar feeling when March approaches very fast every year. However, one of the ideas behind the Monster March is to help progressing your hobby projects. Especially when real life interferes and that it may seem that you lack time more than ever before.

It is thus my pleasure to announce:

#MonsterMarch3

As in the years before, it the opportunity to get back to your big projects that perhaps were sidetracked. Or to start something that you kept postponing simply because the undertaking seemed to be too big (quite literally too!).

Monster March idea is about the big model you would like to assemble and paint. As in the years before, it does not need to be the model related to a fantasy system, game or world. Participants brought all sorts of ideas so feel free to participate with any model or models you want to paint!

Game 109 - Forces of Nature - 2019/02/16

Greetings!

In my last game before CanCon2019 I once again played against Jeff. I had a difficult decision to make, I had to choose between two events at the same time. This year I chose Mortem Et Gloriam. However, I still could help Jeff to test his army one more time before could decide on the final version of it.

This time Jeff decided to trade the speed of the Forest Shamblers, in particular in formation, for high defense of Earth Elementals. Hydras were gone too, with 3 Beasts of Nature instead. Also, there were Druids this time and together with Forest Wardens this army had quite a large number of Drain Lice spells. Here are the details:

Mortem et Gloriam - Game 22 - 2019/02/12

Hello!

In the second game of the tournament during CanCon 2019 I was to play against a completely different type of an army - French from 100 Years War, commanded by Stephen.

It was not the first time for me to play against such a force. I expected a lot of armored TuG's, be it mounted or on foot. And I was not disappointed as Stephen brought quite a compact army, comprised only of TuG's. It looked relatively small, although it had only one unit less than my Early Seleucids. It simply told me I should have expected tough elements to fight against.

Here are the details of the army list (I apologize for any inconsistencies, as this list was created from memory):

100 Years War French - Army List

Game 108 - Forces of Nature - 2019/02/10

Greetings!

I played my third game of 2019 against my most regular opponent, Jeff. We played that game prior to CanCon 2019 and Jeff wanted to test some of his ideas before he would submit the final army list for the event.

Jeff decided to choose Forces of Nature this time, which looked like a big change in comparison to his Night Stalkers army. Although my previous game against Ed was also versus Forces of Nature host, this army was completely different in terms of composition. It is yet another example how well Kings of War game is designed that it allows such a variety, even in the frame of the same faction.

We played at 2250 points per side and here are the details of the army list Jeff brought to our game:

Forces of Nature - Army List

6 Fire Elementals, Horde, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (2), Shambling
- Beast of Nature,  Monster, Crushing Strength (2), Breath Attack (10)

6 Fire Elementals, Horde, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (2), Shambling

- Hydra, Monster, Crushing Strength (2), Regeneration (5+)

3 Forest Shamblers, Large Infantry, Regiment, Crushing Strength (1), Pathfinders, Shambling, Vanguard
- Forest Warden, Large Infantry, Hero,  Crushing Strength (2), Pathfinders, Nimble, Vanguard, Surge (3), Inspiring (Forest Shamblers only), Drain Life, Griffin Banner
- Hydra, Monster, Crushing Strength (2), Regeneration (5+)

Wardens Watch - Formation

Mortem et Gloriam - Game 21 - 2019/02/09

Hello!

In the first game of the tournament the players were matched based on their armies. The attempt was made to match up armies from similar historical periods if possible. Thanks to that system I was about to play against David and his Macedonian Successors!

I played against David once before and I was very glad to have an opportunity for a re-match. Even better, this time he had a very similar army to mine! It was the first time I had such a chance and I was really looking forward who would prevail in pike-vs-pike fight. And it did feel like one of these monumental battles that were fought after the death of Alexander the Great between his Successors.

Here are the details of the army list David decided to bring to the tournament:

Game 107 - Forces of Nature - 2019/02/03

Greetings!

It's been a while since I have posted a battle report from the game played in Kings of War. It was not due to lack of games, quite the contrary! In fact, I have quite a number of them to report so let's try to get back on track!

This game was played against one of my regular opponents, Ed. He has recently participated in UK Masters event (3rd time in a row!) with his Empire of Dust army. However, for the new season and under CoK2019 rules he decided to go for a new project - Forces of Nature.

I have not played against Forces of Nature army for a while. I consider this faction one of the core Mantic armies and it is great to see some models being released for them. Forces of Nature army has also got 3rd formation in CoK2019 update and guess what, Ed decided to take all three of them in his force!
