Game 143 - Wood Elves - 2015/09/02

Greetings!

After the untimely death of 8th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle many players decided to continue with fan based rules they could develop together. One of such initiatives is 9th Age and you can find the link to the rules as well as web site where people are discussing the development process as well as possible changes here:

Game 101 - Wood Elves - 2014/02/17

Game 3 - Johannes - Wood Elves - Meeting Engagement

Meeting Engagement is a tricky scenario. It allows for close deployment but has a chance to mess it up for you if are going to roll too many 1's. It also creates a little confusion as to how to deploy. On the other hand it can create some nice opportunities due to closer proximity of the troops.

This round I drew Johannes who played with beautifully converted Wood Elves army:

I have found out during the tournaments that Wood Elves players are one of the two kinds at the moment. First, great modellers and simply in love with their miniatures. They didn't abandon that army over the years simply because they like their collections too much. The fact that it is very difficult to play with such army is not a problem. Second, hardcore players, who like to win in style. Their grasp of the game is unsurpassed and they can teach you tricks you have never heard of. Being in one group does not mean you cannot be in the other one too!

Johannes brought the following force (unfortunately I still haven't obtained the army lists from the TO so sorry for lack of details):

Treemen Ancient, Annoyance of Netlings - General

Game 72 - Wood Elves - 2013/06/17

Greetings!

A friend of mine asked me for a game as he had a very long break and has never played with 8th edition rules before. I was very happy to bring him back to the light and we set up a game in the local store. My friend brought his Wood Elves. I was very intrigued because somehow I didn't have many opportunities to play against Asrai. He brought a nice army with a little bit of everything, painted in the autumn colors. Which looked very nice on the battlefield indeed!

Game 3 - Wood Elves - Meeting Engagement

In the last game of the day I had a pleasure to meet Alex and play against his beautifully painted Wood Elves. We were going to play a meeting engagement scenario, as per rulebook. It is another tricky scenario when you had to roll for regiments to see what goes to reserves. The fact that particular unit is not going to enter the battle straight away does not mean one can be in trouble. Sometimes just the contrary!

I have not faced Wood Elves since very, very long time, let alone since the beginning of 8th edition. Asrai can be a tough match up, in particular due to their shooting superiority but also due to their excellent maneuverability. Alex had a following, very unique (at least in my opinion) army list:
