Game 146 - Varangur - 2020/05/24

Greetings!

In the last, fourth round of the Rage of Isolation tournament, being played on Universal Battle 2, I played against Michael. The Big Boss and Tournament Organiser himself! If you were following my games from this event you would notice I did not post about the round 3. It is due to the fact that, unfortunately, the game was not played and I moved straight to round 4.

Michael plays with many armies but for this event he chose evil Northern Alliance, i.e. Varangur. It's been a while since I played against this army and I have not yet fought against them under 3rd edition rules. It was great that I had the first hand opportunity to see this army in action.

Michael decided to bring the army that is focused on melee and almost every single unit in it was able to deal a lot of damage in its own. Here are the details

Game 145 - Salamanders - 2020/05/17

In the second round of the Rage of Isolation Universal Battle 2 tournament I had a great pleasure to play against Ben who commanded the army of Salamanders. You may know Ben as Bensome of Direct Misfire fame. If you don't or have not listened to this great podcast yet, you are really missing out! I suggest that you go and check it out, especially that the new episode about Ratkin Army has just been released!

It is not the first time when I had an opportunity to play against Ben as we played against each other at CanCon 2014. Six years ago! Boy, time flies indeed! If you are interested, here is a battle report from the game when we played something different, with a bit different composition of the armies and at the time when it was mandatory for me to include blurry pictures! :)

Welcome to the first battle report from the online tournament called Rage of Isolation! This even is organised by Michael, who was recently interviewed on Counter Charge podcast about building Kings of War scene in Sydney:

I participated in a similar even Michael organised last year just before the release of 3rd edition of Kings of War. It was a great experience and and I was really happy he decided to do something similar again. 

The games are played over Universal Battle 2 platform, with one week time to arrange your game with your opponent. There are four rounds planned and armies are at 2300 points. However, the composition restrictions are used for 1995 size armies. If you are interested, full player's pack can be found here:

Please note that players are not allowed to change the army lists and need to play all four games with the same force as during the usual event.

In the first round I was paired with Matthew. We have played against each other twice so far and the last time was during CanCon 2020 a few months ago. Matthew decided to bring Undead army this time and I must say when I saw his army list I knew I am about to face a very tough foe!
