Game 134 - Forces of Basilea - 2020/02/02

Greetings!

Welcome to the very first battle report from the games I played during Clash of Kings Australia 2020.

In this game I had a great pleasure to meet Trevor who travelled all the way from Queensland together with a famous Team Queensland. Trevor brought one of the trademark factions for the game of Kings of War - Forces of Basilea! What is more, his army was composed entirely with Mantic Models. Well done, Trevor!

Trevor's army was an example of small, elite and hard hitting force. Here are the details of his army composition:

Game 128 - Forces of Basilea - 2019/12/01

Greetings!

In the last round of the first Australian Universal Battle tournament I played against Jeff who commanded Forces of Basilea.

We played against each other long time ago when Jeff was trying out Universal Battle for the first time. It was thus great to have an opportunity to play again.

What is more, that was my last game of 2nd edition and it looked like it would be the same for Jeff. So we wanted to make it a really epic battle to farewell 2nd edition of Kings of War in style!

When I checked Jeff's list I noticed that he has quite a number of ranged attacks. In particular in the form of a few highly mobile Phoenixes as well as War-Wizards. Add to that Crossbowmen, Arbalest and Spells from Ur-Elohi and you can see this army is really good at dealing damage before the melee even begins. Here are the details of that army:

Forces of Basilea - Army List

40 Crossbowmen (C), Horde, Infantry, Iron Resolve, Piercing (1), Reload!, Jar of the Four Winds

Game 110 - Forces of Basilea - 2019/02/27

Greetings!

With CanCon 2019 over I looked at new opportunities to play more games of Kings of War. In particular because I did not participate in Australian Clash of Kings but played some historical games this time instead (please check my reports from Mortem et Gloriam games!).

However, I was very curious what type of armies people brought to the event this time and I wished I could have taken part in two events at the same time!

Hence I talked to some players who participated in the tournament and Jeff was obviously one of them. Surprisingly, he decided to try a completely new army than the one he took to Clash of Kings 2019. The reason was that although he won all his games, he finished 2nd overall. It was because with his Forces of Nature army he often won on scenarios but was not able to rout significant amount of enemy units.

His new idea was about Forces of Basilea army. For this game we decided to play at 2000 points, simply because we were not yet sure what would be the most popular size for the new season.

Forces of Basilea - Army List

40 Penitent Mob, Horde, Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Headstrong
- Phoenix, Monster, Breath Attack (10), Crushing Strength (1), Fly, Heal (6), Inspiring, Regeneration (4+)
- Mounted War-Wizard, Hero, Cavalry, Fireball (8), Individual

40 Penitent Mob, Horde, Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Headstrong
- Phoenix, Monster, Breath Attack (10), Crushing Strength (1), Fly, Heal (6), Inspiring, Regeneration (4+)
- Mounted War-Wizard, Hero, Cavalry, Fireball (8), Individual

40 Penitent Mob, Horde, Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Headstrong
- Mounted War-Wizard, Hero, Cavalry, Fireball (8), Individual

40 Penitent Mob, Horde, Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Headstrong

3 Elohi, Regiment, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Fly, Inspiring, Thunderous Charge (1)
- Ur-Elohi, Hero, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (2), Fly, Heal (3), Inspiring, Thunderous Charge (1)

3 Elohi, Regiment, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Fly, Inspiring, Thunderous Charge (1)

The Valley of Kings 3.1 - Forces of Basilea - 2017/09/02

Greetings!

In the third game of the tournament I had a pleasure to play against Kate and her Forces of Basilea army. It was the first time I played against Kate. I must add that it is really great to know that there are so many Kings of War players in Canberra as I happen to meet new people every time I attend a tournament!

Forces of Basilea is also quite an unique army and I am surprised that such a classic force for Mantic world does is not represented more often. What is more, Kate did a great job in terms of collecting fantastic Mantic models and I am sure her army will look fantastic when she finishes painting it. Hopefully, she will be attending the tournaments regularly too!

The army she assembled for the tournament had all the fantastic units that are trademarks for the Forces of Basilea, here is the list with the details.

Forces of Basilea - Army List

20 Paladin Knights, Horde, Maccwar’s Potion of the Caterpillar
- High Paladin on Dragon, Hero, Blade of Slashing
- Phoenix, Monster

6 Sisterhood Panther Chariots, Horde, Brew of Sharpness

6 Elohi, Horde, Blessing of the Gods
- War-Wizard, Hero, Soul Drain

KoW Game 11 - Forces of Basilea - 2015/12/18

Greetings!

I was very lucky that my good friend, Darth Sabre (check out his blog here: Darth's Miniature Wargaming Adventures) found some time for another intercontinental, time traveling gaming experience in the magic world of Mantica. Among his many hobby projects, Darth is looking for his perfect Basilean army list and in addition to that, he also wanted a revenge after our previous encounters. His new army, inspired by a great collection of Lord of the Rings miniatures (looks like Gondor is a fantastic range for Basilean army!), took the following shape:

Forces of Basilea - Army List

40 Crossbowmen, Horde, Brew of Keen-eyeness (+1 to hit) - 260
- 5 Sisterhood Panter Lancers, Troop - 115
- Priest, Hero, Bane Chant- 90

10 Paladin Knights, Regiment - 210
- High Paladin on Griffin, Hero, Diadem of Dragon-Kind (Breath Attack (10)) - 240

6 Elohi, Horde, Blessing of the Gods (Elite) - 325

KoW Game 6 - Basileans - 2015/11/05

Hello!

I was very lucky as Darth had time for a rematch. He considered bringing some Elves this time but decided to give Basileans another go. I must say I was glad about this decision because Basileans are truly the army of Mantica and I think they can be a formidable opponent. Darth made quite a few changes in comparison to our first game and here is the list he used this time:

Basileans - Army List

40 Crossbowmen, Horde, Brew of Keen-eyeness (+1 to hit) - 260
