Game 160 - Salamanders - 2022/01/23

Greetings!

It has been some time since I played a game of Kings of War "live", either with real models or online. It was thus a great that when Karl reached out to offer me a game on Tabletop Simulator I had some spare time to do so. It was our long overdue re-match too! We played our first game almost exactly a year ago. You can check it here if you are interested:

Game 152 - Salamanders - 2021/01/26

If you are interested in playing Kings of War on Tabletop Simulator platform, I highly recommend you read Karl's article on Mantic Blog:

How to play Kings of War on Tabletop Simulator

And check all the goodies Karl prepared for you on this FB group:

Kings of War - Tabletop Simulator

There are a lot of very useful functionalities built in now, that make the experience even more smooth and user friendly. I also learned that you can have moving models as well, in the same way as they are in computer games! I hope I am going to find some time in the future to play with that and create more personalized version of my own as well.

Karl brought his trusty Salamanders again and we both had some updates to our respective army lists since last time. Here are the details of the army list of Karl's Salamanders:

Salamanders - Army List

Salamander Ceremonial Guard Horde (SC), Heavy Infantry - 265

Game 158 - Ratkin - 2021/04/25

Greetings!

After I played against Ed and his Free Dwarfs, I had a fantastic opportunity to have a game with another prominent member of the Oxford Gaming Club - Simon aka laribord for those who play on Universal Battle 2. We have played against each other since the down of time but there was a bit of a break since our most recent encounter. It was thus great to organize a game again!

This time, Simon brought his Ratkin army. This is the faction I didn't play against often and Simon always adds a special flavour to the armies he designs. It was no different this time and I was really curious about this encounter. Let's check Simon's army in more detail:

Desert Rats - Army List

Game 149 - Goblins - 2020/11/17

Goblins!!!

Greetings!

In the third round of the Rage of Isolation 2 tournament I played against Stephen who this time played with Goblins (Stephen often plays with Salamanders these days).

I played against Stephen once but long time ago and back then, he was playing with Kingdoms of Men. If you are interested in a bit of history, here is the battle report from the battle played 4 years ago!

I was thus very curious about this game, with new army, new edition etc. The army Stephen designed for this event is quite interesting and nothing like I played against before. Here are the details:

Game 136 - Orcs - 2020/02/08

Greetings!

In the last round of the first day of Clash of Kings Australia 2020 I had a great pleasure to play against Matthew who commanded an army of Orcs and friendly Trolls!

It was the second time I played against Matthew, as we did so a few months ago during a local event. It was, thus, a great opportunity for a re-match, although under 3rd edition of Kings of War this time. I was very curious what would be the composition of Matthew's army. I noticed some very interesting changes and as usual, great looking models on the other side of the table!

Gore Chariot Legion was obviously the first unit I noticed, as it was really intimidating! But all elements of Matthew's army looked really great! Here are the details of the army he brought to the tournament:

Game 125 - Forces of Nature - 2019/11/17

Greetings!

Welcome to the first battle report from the very first Australian Universal Battle tournament and the last event I took part in that was played with 2nd Edition Kings of War rules! Talk about saying farewell to 2nd Edition with a bang! :)

Many thanks to Michael who organised this event for a few die hard UB and KoW enthusiasts! The tournament had 5 rounds and had initially 12 participants. 10 of us finished it. We used Black Jack scoring system and Michael was announcing the scenario for each round just after the previous one was finished.

If you would like to check the results already and/or are interested in the details of the army lists participants used, please follow the link to Michael's blog:

Australian UB Tournament - Season 1

We played at 2250 points which to me was the perfect size for the games. I was really happy to participate, especially that in 2019 I did not attend many tournaments.

In the first round I drew Yan who chose to use his Forces of Nature army. It was quite a different approach to the army list composition than Jeff's so it really felt like I was playing against a completely different force. Even if it was the same faction. Here are the details:

Game 108 - Forces of Nature - 2019/02/10

Greetings!

I played my third game of 2019 against my most regular opponent, Jeff. We played that game prior to CanCon 2019 and Jeff wanted to test some of his ideas before he would submit the final army list for the event.

Jeff decided to choose Forces of Nature this time, which looked like a big change in comparison to his Night Stalkers army. Although my previous game against Ed was also versus Forces of Nature host, this army was completely different in terms of composition. It is yet another example how well Kings of War game is designed that it allows such a variety, even in the frame of the same faction.

We played at 2250 points per side and here are the details of the army list Jeff brought to our game:

Forces of Nature - Army List

6 Fire Elementals, Horde, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (2), Shambling
- Beast of Nature,  Monster, Crushing Strength (2), Breath Attack (10)

Game 106 - Undead - 2019/01/20

Greetings!

The very first battle of Kings of War in 2019 was played with real models! I consider that a really great start of a new year. Especially, that it has been a few months since I had a game like that.

January is also a time for practice for upcoming big event CanCon2019. Chris and I were still on holidays and we used that opportunity to organize a game at a local store.

I have played against Chris and his super-cool old-school Undead army a few times so far. However, it has been a while since our last game too. I was thus really happy we could play again. Especially that he posted a few pictures of his new, Vampire Lord on Undead Elder Dragon and I really wanted to see that beast in action.

Here are the details of the army list:

Undead - Army List

Game 100 - Night Stalkers - 2018/11/19

Greetings!

After more than 3 years since I switched to Kings of War as the fantasy system of choice, I have just reached quite a milestone. 100 officially documented games in Kings of War! I am really happy about it and I just wish I reached it earlier :D

It was a very interesting journey and I plan to continue on this path. Clash of Kings 2019 supplement is around the corner and it seems that despite other distractions, I will be playing Kings of War for another year!

It seemed quite fitting that 100th game happened to be against Jeff too! I have been playing against him and his varied armies for some time lately. All of them, without any doubt, were great fun and I believe I learned a lot from the Master himself. It may be difficult sometimes to stand up after another defeat but I keep trying to find a way to victory. :)

He brought Night Stalkers to the game again but with some modifications:

Night Stalkers - Army List

40 Scarecrows, Infantry, Horde, Shambling
- Void Lurker, Hero, Monster, Crushing Strength (2), Fly, Regeneration (5+), Thunderous Charge (1), This unit is not Stealthy
