Game 153 - Sylvan Kin - 2021/03/12

Greetings!

Welcome to the first battle report from the series of 4 games in the frame of online tournament - Rage of Isolation 4. This was the last event of 2020 I participated in. It was organized by Michael Clarke and the games were played in November and December last year on Universal Battle. Here is the link to the FB page for that tournament where you can find more details on each round as well as a player's pack:

Rage of Isolation 4

This time the rules were really simple. 2000 points armies, preselected scenarios and maps each turn but that's about it. No special rules this time, to make it nice and easy!

In the first round I got paired with Nick Legrand who brought a Silvan Kin army for this event. Interestingly, we participated in many events together but for some reason, we have only played against each other once. And even then it was almost 8 years ago at ConVic 2013 when we both played a different game. However, it brings some memories too so here is the link to that game, in what now seems a different reality :)

ConVic 2013 - Round 3

I have played a few games against Sylvan Kin so far but Nick designed his army around a different concept. It was a very interesting combination of variety of units rather than focus on a single aspect, such as Forest Shamblers for example.

Here are the details of the army Nick used in this game and the tournament:

Sylvan Kin - Army List

Forest Guard Horde (FG), Infantry, Brew of Strength - 310

Kindred Archers Regiment (A1), Infantry - 120

Game 150 - Free Dwarfs - 2020/11/29

Greetings!

In the last round of the Rage of Isolation 2 online tournament played on Universal Battle 2, I played against another famous crew member of the Direct Misfire Podcast - Huw. For this event, he brought and army of Free Dwarfs.

I was curious about this faction as I have never played against it before. How different would it be to the regular army? In a way, it seemed like a classic match up still, between Dwarfs and Elves. However, I quickly noticed a few very interesting and unique elements in Huw's army:

Free Dwarfs - Army List

Shieldbreakers Horde (S1), Infantry, Throwing Mastiffs - 245

Shieldbreakers Regiment (S2), Infantry, Throwing Mastiffs - 155

Game 129 - Elves - 2019/12/14

Greetings!

This is the battle report from my very first game using 3rd edition of the Kings of War rules. I was very intrigued how it would go, both in terms of impressions on the new edition and on the new army list.

I decided to try out the army that was as close to the one I used under 2nd edition. If you are interested in some of my thoughts about the adaptation process, here is the link to the blog post I wrote shortly after the release of 3rd edition:

This game was meant to be an experiment to see how would I do with the similar army in new environment.

Interestingly, Michael, my opponent for this game, decided to bring Elves as well. It was good because his army composition is different to mine. Thanks to that we could see how different units from the same faction can operate. Here are the details of his army list:

Elves - Army List

40 Palace Guard, Horde, Infantry, Unit Strength (4), Crushing Strength (1), Elite (Melee)
- 6 Drakon Riders*, Horde, Large Cavalry, Unit Strength (3), Thunderous Charge (1), Crushing Strength (1), Fly, Elite (Melee), Potion of Caterpillar

Game 116 - Elves - 2019/04/21

Greetings!

In the third and last game of the local tournament, Capitol Bash I, I played against another army of Elves, commanded by Glen. His armies are always created with the use of Mantic models only and his Elven force was no exception.

The army itself was also designed in a completely different way as it was based around horde units and had a few units that I didn't have in mine. Here are the details of the army Glen brought to the tournament, with the exception of artifacts that I, unfortunately, cannot recall at this stage.

Elves - Army List

40 Therennian Sea Guard (A1), Horde, Infantry, Bows, Phalanx
- Bolt Thrower (BT1), War Engine, Blast (D3), Piercing (2), Reload!
- Green Lady [1] (GL), Hero, Infantry, Individual, Inspiring, Fly, Heal (8), Pathfinder, Regeneration (5+)

40 Therennian Sea Guard (SG), Horde, Infantry, Bows, Phalanx
- Bolt Thrower (BT1), War Engine, Blast (D3), Piercing (2), Reload!
- Elven King (K), Hero, Infantry, Individual, Inspiring, Crushing Strength (1)

6 Awoken Guardians [1] (AG), Horde, Large Infantry, Crushing Strength (1), Lifeleech (2), Mindthirst, Shambling, Pahtfinder Vanguard

Game 107 - Forces of Nature - 2019/02/03

Greetings!

It's been a while since I have posted a battle report from the game played in Kings of War. It was not due to lack of games, quite the contrary! In fact, I have quite a number of them to report so let's try to get back on track!

This game was played against one of my regular opponents, Ed. He has recently participated in UK Masters event (3rd time in a row!) with his Empire of Dust army. However, for the new season and under CoK2019 rules he decided to go for a new project - Forces of Nature.

I have not played against Forces of Nature army for a while. I consider this faction one of the core Mantic armies and it is great to see some models being released for them. Forces of Nature army has also got 3rd formation in CoK2019 update and guess what, Ed decided to take all three of them in his force!

Here are the details:

Forces of Nature - Army List
