Game 84 - Trident Realms - 2018/03/31

Greetings!

This game was played on Universal Battle 2 in January 2018. It was just before KoW Masters in UK and Clash of Kings 2018 in Australia. This report was meant to be posted earlier but due to my misunderstanding I didn't do it. Later on I started posting about Clash of Kings Australia 2018 games and I didn't want to disrupt the pattern of the series of the reports.

My sincere apologies to Ed for my misunderstanding and to all the readers for posting the report later than intended. However, I do hope that the whole context of the duel and the game itself will make up for the delay!

This report is going to feature a very unique battle. I had a great pleasure to play against Ed who played against me several times already. However, there were some circumstances that made this game not like the others.

Ed has qualified (again! well done Ed!) to UK Masters and wanted to have some practice games before the event. He also helped me to do so before Australian Masters so I was very happy to return the favor.

What was quite funny to notice and what we have not realized before setting up the time for the game was that regardless of the time and space discontinuity, two Master players from the opposite hemispheres were about to face each other with their chosen armies. What is more, we are two current Wooden Spoon winners as well! It was becoming more and more epic and this report is going to detail the Battle of the Wooden Spoons where two People's Champions faced each other!

Before I start, however, here is the army list Ed is going to use at UK Masters and which he fielded against my Elves:

Trident Realms - Army List

40 Naiad Ensnarers, Horde, Hammer of Measured Force - 250

Clash of Kings Australia 2 - Summary

Greetings!

With all the battle reports finally done and posted it is about time to wrap it all up with a summary.

Australian Clash of Kings 2018 was another great success without any doubt. I am very happy that I was able to attend again and I keep fingers crossed that the number of Kings of War players keeps growing steadily.

There were 64 participants which is still fantastic, considering that many of them had to travel from other states to Canberra. It is also interesting to note that the number of spots each system got depended on how many players managed to signed up early enough. There was no fixed number of spots at the beginning so it was great to know many participants committed early to allow the organizers negotiate enough room for 60+ people.

It is time for weekly update on the progress on Monster March 2 challenge! Some of the participants were very efficient and finished their projects last week. But some are still busy with theirs and today I am going to present some more WiP pictures.

Please, remember that the final week is still ahead of us so if you have some work that needs to be finished or that you simply want to continue painting with whatever stage you are at - there is still time! :)

Let's check the updates for this week!

Monster March 2 - Part 3

Hello!

Welcome to the Part 3 update on the progress in Monster March 2! I must say that there are some wonderful looking models again and some of the participants did so good that they have already finished their projects!

That is truly awesome and you guys need to tell us all what is the secret to such efficient painting, I am sure we will all benefit from your suggestions. :)

To those who are still working on their models, do not worry! There is still time to make some progress and the reason I have weekly updates is to keep you all inspired and motivated. If you don't have any updates now that is perfectly fine. I am sure you will get some next week! :)

All right, let's see those great updates then!

Game 83 - Forces of the Abyss - 2018/03/17

Greetings!

In the game 7, last game of the event, I had a great pleasure to play against Ben of Direct Misfire podcast fame.  Ben had a beautifully painted army of the Forces of the Abyss and I could not decide if I like the painting or the ideas for models and conversions more. It is a great looking army and I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to play against it.

Here are the details of that army:

Forces of the Abyss - Army List

6 Molochs, Horde, Potion of Caterpillar
- 10 Gargoyles, Troop
- Efreet, Hero, Heart-seeking Chant
- Chroneas[1], Monster

 6 Twisted Victims[1], Horde
- Lord of Lies[1], Hero

10 Abyssal Horsemen, Regiment, Pipes of Terror
- Abyssal Champion, Hero, Mounted, Bloodboil

20 Succubi, Regiment
- Abyssal Temptress, Hero, Fly, Helm of the Ram
3 Imps, Regiment

Game 82 - Elves - 2018/03/13

Hello!

In the game 6 of the Australian Clash of Kings 2018 I played against another Elven army, commanded by Bridget who attended her first tournament!

I must say that I find it very intriguing that since I have started playing Kings of War I have yet to play against the same army twice. What I mean is that unless I play against the same player who decided to bring the same army list again, all the forces I fought against have different compositions. It is truly fantastic, even after 2-3 years as it seems to show that KoW is very well designed game that allows for a huge variety.

Bridget had an army that further supported this impression. She brought an army that had units of many different types but at the same time it was significantly different to mine. Here are the details:

Elves - Army List

20 Kindred Archers, Regiment
 - 5 Silver Breeze, Troop
- Army Standard, Hero, Lute of Insatiable Darkness
20 Palace Guard, Regiment, Mace of Crushing
- Mage, Hero, Bane Chant(2),  Mounted, Amulet of Fire-heart

20 Tallspears, Regiment
- Mage, Hero,  Fenulian Amulet, Lightning Bolt (5)
20 Tallspears, Regiment
- Dragon Kindred Lord, Hero, The Fog
- Mage, Hero, Lightning Bolt(5)

10 Stormwind Cavalry, Regiment, Potion of Caterpillar

10 Stormwind Cavalry, Regiment, Chant of Hate

Monster March 2 - Part 2

Hello!

The first week of the Monster March 2 challenge has just passed by and the participants are busy with assembling and painting their models. For those who entered with a completely new and not assembled monsters, the first week is for preparing the models, including assembly stage. However, it is really up to the participant at what pace the progress is happening.

Below are the examples of what progress was made for some of the models. Well done for those who started strong and are ahead of the assembly stage! For everyone else, check the progress of your fellow participants, take some inspiration and motivation and cheer up everyone! We need our mutual support to keep going!

Monster March 2 - Part 1

Hello!

It is finally March so we can all start our #MonsterMarch2 challenge! I am very happy to announce that we have 16 participants at the moment! Thanks a lot for joining in, guys! It is truly an honor for me to host Monster March again and I can't wait to see all your fantastic models taking shape and being painted!

The choice of models is very interesting again and you will see all kind of monsters here. Be it of fantasy type or from the distance future alike. As mentioned in the introduction, this challenge is all about getting one of your big models and try to make a significant progress with it, hopefully finishing painting by the end of the month.

Let's meet our participants, presented here in the alphabetical order:

Game 81 - Abyssal Dwarfs - 2018/03/03

Greetings!

In the first game of the day two and battle 5 of the tournament I played against Stephen and his Abyssal Dwarfs. I have never played against Stephen before, although I believe we participated in the same events in the past. It was thus great opportunity for me to play against him for the very first time!

Stephen brought an army that had almost ever model from Mantic and it looked great! My pictures do not show properly how good the models look. Perhaps the dark color scheme was also more difficult to present nicely. But it was fantastic to be able to play against a very nice and characterful looking army! He had the following units in his force:

Abyssal Dwarfs - Army List

6 Lesser Obsydian Golems, Horde, Brew of Haste
- 10 Gargoyles, Troop
- 10 Gargoyles, Troop
- Greater Obsydian Golem, Monster
Ba'su'su the Vile

6 Lesser Obsydian Golems, Horde
- Supreme Iron-caster on Great Winged Halfbreed, Hero, Surge (10), Banner of Griffin

10 Abyssal Halfbreeds, Regiment, Brew of Courage
- Overmaster on Great Abyssal Dragon, Hero, Blade of Slashing

Twilight Kin - Allies

20 Crossbowmen, Regiment
20 Crossbowmen, Regiment
