Kings of Cro-Nation 1 - Introduction - 2016/11/20

Greetings!

Last Saturday (2016/11/19) I participated in a small local event organized again in one of the stores in Canberra, THREE D6 .

This event was organized with Clash of Kings players pack, Matt who is the main organizer of the Clash of Kings Australia event in late January 2017. It was meant as a practice before that tournament and a test of the player's pack in case it may need some further tweaks.

I decided to take the new version of my army list which I have not used yet before:

Game 32 - Dwarfs - 2016/11/20

Greetings!

This game was meant to be a practice for Eastern Barbarian before a local event. Unfortunately, the tournament was cancelled but on the bright side we had another great game on Universal Battle.

EB does not have his Varangur ready to play with in the events, so he decided to take his trusty Dwarfs.

I must say I really like his new idea for an army and he also is going to have some great models to be included. Can't wait to see them painted and maybe one day we will play with real miniatures too!

20 Rangers, Regiment - 180

3d6 October - Summary

Greetings!

Here is a short summary of my experiences during my second event with Kings of War. I was glad I could attend and even more so that we had 8 players participating. It may not look as a lot but the initial numbers were not promising at all so many thanks to the participants who made it!

Player's Pack

We used Clash of Kings player's pack and I must say I really like it. It was also good to have some practice before the Australian Clash of Kings that is going to take place in January 2017.

I am in particular happy that I managed to play with Chess Clocks and in all games I still had a few minutes left. I know I need to speed up my game further, especially the deployment part. It is a new challenge for me but I hope to get even better and come up with good deployment and game plans, despite very little time to make them. And it is good to see that it does not take away from the game experience at all. In fact, it adds a bit of pressure which turns out to be a good thing.

I was glad it was at 2000 points too. Allows for quicker games and there was space for maneuvers too. Definitely my favorite format.

KoW - 3d6 October - Game 3 - Varangur - 2016/11/13

Greetings!

In the third and last game I played against Michael and his Varangur. Yet another army I have almost no experience to play against. I have had a single game against them so far and that proved to be a very bloody encounter.

I was thus curious what kind of army Michael is going to field. He went for a force that had very few units but almost all of them were tough and hard hitting.

KoW - 3d6 October - Game 2 - Ogres - 2016/11/10

Greetings!

In the game 2 of 3d6 October tournament I met Tim who commanded the army of brutal Ogres! It was the first event for Tim and for me it was the first game against Ogres in Kings of War. In round 1 Tim has already defeated another Elven army so I guess he knew how to deal with my force.

In this game the challenge was to fight against a new army and against the clock too. Encouraged by the success in the first battle I was at least reassured that I can play fast enough. But coming up with a good plan against a completely new army was a different story :) Let's have a look at what Tim brought to the table:

Ogres - Army List

20 Red Goblins, Regiment - 85

KoW - 3d6 October - Game 1 - Elves - 2016/11/06

Greetings!
In the first game of 3d6 October small local tournament I had a pleasure to play against Mark and his Elves. It was not our first game but certainly a first battle between our armies in Kings of War.

Civil War games always bring that extra element of playing against the army with potentially the same set of strengths and weaknesses. However, the composition of both forces is still an important factor. I was very curious about that game and I was glad to see that our armies are significantly different from each other. It was especially important in a tournament where three out of eight armies were Elves!

Mark built his army with units in horde formation and added two war engines as well as four heroes. In detail, his army looked like this:

Elves - Army List

40 Therennian Sea Guard, Horde, Wine of Elvenkind (nimble) - 320
- Dragon Breath, War Engine - 90
- Mage, Hero, Bane Chant (2), Inspiring Talisman - 110

40 Therennian Sea Guard, Horde, Brew of Keen-eyeness (+1 to hit) - 325
- Dragon Breath, War Engine - 90
- Mage, Hero, Bane Chant (2), Fireball (10) - 100

6 Drakon Riders, Horde, Brew of Haste (+1 Speed) - 285
- Drakon Lord, Hero, Ensorcelled Armour - 195

6 Drakon Riders, Horde, Maccwar’s Potion of the Caterpillar (Pathfinder) - 290
- Drakon Lord, Hero, Medallion of Life - 195
