It is a very interesting game and I am lucky my friend had it all prepared for me. While I know some local stores have some gaming nights with Armada, at this stage I don't know the people yet.

Maybe Vassal would help you to find more opponents?

Thanks a lot for the links! I will definitely check them out!

Cheers!Swordmasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09735639525894232458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-20192267531184171042017-04-11T03:16:46.565+10:002017-04-11T03:16:46.565+10:00Oh and this now stopped blog has a good intro post...Oh and this now stopped blog has a good intro post and some helpful resource links: http://concentratefire.blogspot.co.uk/p/beginners-guide.html?m=1Knoffleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01367082469697780011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-76811117786880820482017-04-11T03:13:40.964+10:002017-04-11T03:13:40.964+10:00That's one game I really want to try but very ...That's one game I really want to try but very few play it at the club and tend to play x-wing if anything, so it's really good to hear your first impressions. I do follow this blog of a former 8th player who then went down the armada route, very easy reading and plenty of list hammers and testing: https://warhammertruthiness.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/stele-open.html?m=1Knoffleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01367082469697780011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-83413467269670268002017-04-10T20:56:46.935+10:002017-04-10T20:56:46.935+10:00HI Michael!
Thanks a lot! I am glad you liked it,...HI Michael!

Thanks a lot! I am glad you liked it, the game is simply fantastic! I think I am getting close to what I want to try as the first fleet and I would simply need to get the ships and more squadrons to have the force to play with.

It is also great to have Vassal as an online platform, I am slowly learning how to use it.

There is a danger in moving to many systems at the same time! :) But in the case of Armada, the good part is that it is ready to play game, where I don't need to paint new models. In this case it is an advantage.

I used to play 40K ages ago but I don't think I will go into that direction again. Although I am very curious about the new edition. I will still read the books, in particular from HH series. Interestingly, that is why I got the most recent Fracture of Biel-Tan codex - the stories and the artwork :)

Cheers!Swordmasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09735639525894232458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-56167902430719956552017-04-10T20:30:17.135+10:002017-04-10T20:30:17.135+10:00Really nice review and first impressions! We'll have you playing 40k in no time ;)Mike (Didcot Wargames Club)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04136576868354842829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-90088359704881691102017-04-09T11:18:24.738+10:002017-04-09T11:18:24.738+10:00Thanks a lot, Jimmy! I think you knew well before the game I would greatly enjoy it :) It is simply fantastic to have a game we can share again as it used to be with Warhammer. I am sure we will have a lot of fruitful discussions and I am already looking forward to the new content on your own blog!

I am also happy to know you liked my very post about Armada. I must say I had to spend some time trying to figure out how to write about the first experience. As you know, I am also thinking how to address future battle reports, as the way I write about fantasy games is significantly different. However, I hope the things I learned before would be applicable to Armada too.

I am already trying to learn how to play on Vassal as I think it will help in enjoying the game but will also provide a good platform for generating helpful diagrams for the discussions.

Now I need to decide on the first fleet to try and start learning more!

Cheers!Swordmasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09735639525894232458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-23893252236503573422017-04-09T11:12:52.604+10:002017-04-09T11:12:52.604+10:00Thanks a lot! I am glad to know you liked my very first post about Armada :) I am fully aware that one of the appeals of the system is the ability to customize each ship in a huge variety of ways. Even more so when new upgrades are available with every new release Wave.

But for a new player like myself it looks a bit overwhelming to see how many options are there and it seems the number of combinations is simply infinite! That's why I want to start with the basics that should help me to understand the game better and that will be useful no matter what. After all, regardless of the upgrades, good positioning and maneuvering should always be beneficial!

Thanks again for your comment!Swordmasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09735639525894232458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3921669614910911724.post-35518581475089115682017-04-09T07:17:22.546+10:002017-04-09T07:17:22.546+10:00Hi SM,

It's interesting to consider ho...Great report!

It's interesting to consider how skipping upgrades influences the value of ships differently: For example, Victory and Imperial star destroyers can take a wide range of upgrdes to mould them into the unit you want, whereas I (currently) would *never* take an MC30 without Ordnance Experts and Assault Proton Torpedoes.

Good luck for the future!StarWarsTabletophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323286169162320630noreply@blogger.com
